Storing garlic and onions

I am storing garlic and onions on the wall in my laundry room.  I started with some old clean nylons, cut the legs off, put an onion in the bottom of the nylon and tied a knot, put another onion in and tied a knot, and so on.  I did the same with the fresh garlic cloves.  I did go buy size D nylons at Walmart for $1.00, as I didn't have enough to store all my onions and garlic.  I hang these on nails, and they last for months.  I feel like Ma in "Little House on the Praire" getting ready for the long winter and storing my veggies in the house.  I was excited after the girls and I finished this project, and felt a bit more prepared and a little empowered:)
